Job Description: Corrosion Analyst
Position Overview:
The Corrosion Analyst will play a crucial role in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating corrosion-related issues within the engineering department, specifically in the field of chemical engineering. This position requires a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional with a deep understanding of corrosion mechanisms, materials science, and engineering principles. The Corrosion Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop effective strategies, implement corrosion prevention measures, and provide technical expertise to ensure the integrity of equipment and structures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough analysis of corrosion-related issues in chemical engineering systems, equipment, and assets.
2. Identify corrosion mechanisms and develop strategies to mitigate and prevent corrosion.
3. Perform corrosion testing, data analysis, and interpretation to assess the potential risks and impacts.
4. Collaborate with engineering teams to design corrosion-resistant materials and develop corrosion control strategies.
5. Evaluate and recommend appropriate coating systems, cathodic protection, and corrosion inhibitors.
6. Conduct inspections and assessments to identify corrosion-related damage and provide comprehensive reports.
7. Develop and maintain corrosion monitoring programs, including the selection and installation of monitoring equipment.
8. Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to corrosion prevention and control.
9. Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure the selection and specification of corrosion-resistant materials.
10. Provide technical guidance and support to operations and maintenance teams regarding corrosion prevention and control measures.
11. Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance the understanding of corrosion-related issues among relevant staff members.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience working as a Corrosion Analyst or a similar role in the chemical engineering industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, material properties, and corrosion prevention strategies.
4. Proficient in corrosion testing techniques, data analysis, and interpretation.
5. Strong understanding of materials science, metallurgy, and chemical processes.
6. Familiarity with industry standards, such as NACE, ASTM, and API, related to corrosion prevention and control.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex corrosion-related issues.
8. Proficient in using corrosion monitoring equipment and software.
9. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information effectively.
10. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance.
